Jasmine Gardosi is a former Cheltenham Poetry Festival, Mix It Up Midlands and International Pangaea Poetry Slam Champion. She has appeared on BBC Radio 3’s The Verb, on the Glastonbury stage and was shortlisted for Birmingham Poet Laureate 2016/18.
As a former BBC Arts Young Creative she has produced short-form film content including How To Be A Poet With Dyslexia. She has since worked as a Poet in Residence for the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust, directed a Shakespeare-inspired youth arts festival in Tamworth Castle Grounds under the Mighty Creatives, and is currently collaborating with Autin Dance Theatre on a sexual health show combining dance and spoken word.
Jasmine is interested in taboo, its deconstruction and its power over language. Since delivering a talk at TEDxBrum’s International Women’s Day 2014 exploring the taboo surrounding menstruation, she continues to run workshops that combine creativity with sex education and other awkward topics. She runs West Midlands Poets’ Place, as well as regular school and community workshops.
