After several years as a collaboration project fronted by the words & vocals of Gail Something‐Else, Muddy Summers finally became a grrrl band at the beginning of 2016 with Tez Roberts joining on guitar, Aimee Bee on Cajon & percussion, & various guest female musicians on flute, melodica & fiddle.
Their first album together, Seeing Red (and Black) was well received and their new album, ‘From Seeds..’ should be out in time for L Fest, which features their best selling single to date – ‘Get Off My Tits!’, and a photo taken of Gail at L Fest last year with her glittery boobs out inspired it when it was removed from Facebook.
They’ve appeared at festivals such as Boomtown, Bearded Theory, Macstock, Common Ground and the Something Else events, with the rest of this season seeing them at Glastonwick, Farmer Phil’s and 0161 Manchester.
It’s hard to pin down their genre, but their roots are firmly in melodic radical folk and they’re singing about stuff that matters. Their lyric driven songs are sometimes funny, sometimes angry, sometimes heartbreaking, but always loaded with passion and a huge helping of food for thought.
